Howdy Manco!!

Byron Foulger was one of those character actors that unless you see his face, you will never remember him. He started out on Broadway, back in the 20's and appeared at the Pasadena Playhouse, before moving into film in the 30's. During the 30's and 40's, he appeared in literally hundreds of films in bit parts , as a banker, mortician,, clerk etc, in films like Heroes Of The Saddle, The Great McGinty, Silver Spurs, Apache Trail and many many others. During the 50's and 60's, while still occassionally appearing in films like Ride The High Country, Guns Of Diablo, he began appearing in many of the t.v. series of the day, like Have Gun Will Travel, Laredo, Green Acres, and a ton of others. He will probably be best remembered by "baby boomers" as Wendell Gibbs, the train conductor on Petticoat Junction.

Hoke Howell snagged a bit part in The Hustler in 1961 and for the next 30 years, he made his living appearing in t.v. series, as a bit part actor. He made the rounds of all of them, like Honey West, Green Acres, Bonanza, The Virginian, The Rockford Files, ect. In the 90's, he was cast in small roles in Far And Away, Geronimo, An American Legend and Another 48 Hours. Like Byron Foulger and many others, Howell never got the plum parts or shared the limelight with the "stars", but without the contribution of their skills, the great films and series we remember, would'nt be the same!!
