Howdy Manco!!

Lloyd Nolan was one of the finest supporting actors in Hollywood from the mid 1930's-1960's. First appearing in G-Men in 1935, he would go to appear in approximately 60 films during his career. Although he was not destined to become a leading man, he nevertheless made the roles he played believable, as in Guadalcanal Diary. Bataan and one of the finest westerns ever made, The Last Hunt, with Robert Taylor and Stewart Grainger. Nolan's role of "Woodfoot", the peg legged cook and buffalo skinner make this movie memorable. I probably remember him best from his many appearances on t.v. westerns, like Bonanza and The Virginian. One episode of The Virginian, comes to mind. Nolan played the father of a young man, that Trampas( Doug McClure) had killed and Nolan had brought his youngest son to kill Trampas. Lloyd Nolan was a solid professional and ANY leading actor or actress, involved in ANY film with him, was fortunate to have done so.

Jean Parker's career spanned from the mid 30's-1966 and she appeared in over 70 films during her career. She was cast with Edward.G.Robinson in Black Tuesday, with Gregory Peck in Gunfighter and with Katherine Hepburn in Little Women. Besides Gunfighter, she also appeared in several other westerns, like Texas Rangers, Toughest Man In Arizona, and A Lawless Street with Randolph Scott. Her last film was Apache Uprising in 1966.
She passed away at the Woodland Hills Calif., Actors Retirement Home, in 2005 at the age of 90.

Although, not thought of as a western actress, Arlene Dahl did appear in The Outriders with Joel McCrea (which the photo is from), Ambush with Robert Taylor and Land Raiders with Telly Savalas and George Maharis. The last one was actually filmed in Hungary!!
