Howdy Manco!!

William Schallert is one of those characters that have been around f-o-r-e-v-e-r!!!!! Getting his start in 1947, he appeared in Mighty Joe Young, The Red Badge Of Courage, and Singin In The Rain in 1949 and wasn't even credited. It wasn't until 1954, that he started being listed in the credits of the films he appeared in. He appeared on The Gale Storm show, Sugarfoot, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel and just about every t.v. sitcom, drama, medical show, western show since!!! His t.v. westerns include, The Gray Ghost, The Lone Ranger, Zorro, The Texan, The Adventures Of Jim Bowie and these are just some of the 50's westerns that he appeared in. His movies include Will Penny, Sam Whiskey, Lonely Are The Brave and many more. If we could look in that picture dictionary I wuz talkin bout, under prolific character actor, there wud be a picture of William Schallert. Schallert is 90 years old today and was still acting in 2011!! He will probably be best remembered for his role on The Patty Duke Show, but he has appeared in so many films and series over his 60 year career, it's impossible to say.

Janet Leigh got her start in the late 40's in film. In 1948, she was voted the most glamorous girl in Hollywood. This beautiful blond, with the short hair was married to actor Tony Curtis and is the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis. Her legacy in films include The Naked Spur with Jimmie Stewart, Psycho( for which she was nominated for the Academy Award) with Anthony Perkins, The Manchurian Candidate with Frank Sinatra. She made 5 films with husband Curtis, including Houdini. The Vikings and The Black Sheild Of Falworth. One of her last appearances, was with her daughter, Jamie Lee in the horror film, Halloween, H20. I always thought, she had the most expressive blue eyes of any actress.

Ned Beatty made his film debut, in the 1972 Burt Reynolds film ,Deliverance, and has appeared in over 100 films since, including The Life And Times Of Judge Roy Bean with Paul Newman, Network( for which he received an Academy Award, nomination), Superman and Superman II, as Gene Hackman's idiot sidekick, Otis. Beatty has continued to appear in big name films throughout his career, such as All The President's Men, The Fourth Protocol, Streets Of Laredo, Where The Red Fern Grows, Shooter and many others. At 75 years of age, Beatty seems to be still going strong. Beatty can do both comedy and drama and with his experience in film, in my opinion, ranks right below Robert Duval, Tommy Lee Jones and Morgan Freeman as one of the top actors in Hollywood.
