Howdy Manco!!

James Edward Grant was a short story and screenplay writer, who was involved in over 50 films during his career. He collaborated with John Wayne in over 12 films, like The Alamo, Hondo, Big Jim McClain, Sands Of Iwo Jima, Angel And The Badman etc. He was nominated for the Academy Award in 1959 for his work on The Sheepman.

Phil Karlson was a director who began as an assistant director back in the 40's and made the transition to director in the 50's, with films like Kanasas City Confidential, Texas Rangers, They Rode West. He also directed some B-films like Kid Galahad with Elvis, The Silencers and The Wrecking Crew with Dean Martin, but he hit it big in 1973 with the film, Walking Tall. Since he owned part of the production, he made his fortune with this film.

Ken Curtis was first a singer, who sang with the Tommy Dorsey Band and also the Sons Of The Pioneers. He married John Ford's daughter and became one of the John Ford stock company of actors. He appeared with John Wayne in The Searchers, The Horse Soldiers, The Alamo and How The West Was Won but it is the role of Festus on the long running t.v. western series Gunsmoke, that he will be best remembered for.
