Howdy Manco!!

Willis Bouchey was a member of the John Ford stock company of actors. He appeared in at least 12 of Ford's productions, including, The Horse Soldiers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, Sergeant Rutledge and many more. He appeared in over 150 films and t.v. series during his career. One of the best western character actors in Hollywood. He also appeared as the Judge in about 20 episodes of the t.v. series, Perry Mason.

Peter Whitney was a large, barrel chested man, with big bushey eyebrows, which qualified him to play a lot of villains in western films and t.v. He appeared in about 15 films, including The Man From Del Rio with Anthony Quinn, Buchanan Rides Alone and in about 30 episodes of Rough Riders, as a former Army Sergeant. He also made many appearnces on western t.v. series, like The Rifleman. Gunsmoke, Wagon Train and Overland Trail.

Don Megowan's film career spanned from 1955-1979. He was a very tall actor, about 6 feet 5 inches to 6 feet 6 inches and therefore was often pitted against folks like James Arness on Gunsmoke and Clint Walker in Cheyenne. He appeared on just about every western series you can think of during the 50's and 60's. He was probably best known for his role of Capt. Huckabee on The Beachcomber t.v. series, but he also appeared as the gill man in, The Creature Walks Among Us and in a sci-fi flick, The Creation Of The Humanoid. The last time I saw him, was as the drunk, who tried to grab Madeline Kahn in Blazin Saddles.

Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez was a diminutive Mexican actor, who was discovered by Groucho Marx on the ole You Bet Your Life t.v. show. He was illiterate and so his wife would read the scripts to him, until he memorized his lines.
He appeared in a couple of John Wayne's films, like The High And The Mighty and the one he will be best remembered for, Rio Bravo, with Ricky Nelson and Angie Dickinson, as the hotel owner, whose wife was extremely jealous of him. The Duke also got a t.v. pilot created for him, but the series never materialized.

Willis Bouchey is terrific as Col. Fosgate in Sergeant Rutledge. Listening to how he plays the character, you'd think that role was written for Ward Bond.
