Howdy Manco!!

George Stone was a little 5 foot 3 inch actor that showed up in hundreds of films and t.v. series from 1927-1962. He appeared in Pocket Full Of Miracles, Guys And Dolls and Some Like It Hot. He was a regular on the ole Perry Mason t.v. series for 4 years as a night court clerk. He made a career out of being a niche actor.

Robert.J.Wilke was one of the top 3 or 4 villains in westerns during the 50's, 60's and 70's. He appeared in the Academy Award winning High Noon as one of Frank Miller's henchmen and in The Magnificent Seven as the bully, who James Coburn knifed at the stockyards. He was typecast as a villain because of his leering smile and hulking frame. I remember reading something a friend of his wrote many years ago. His friend said that Wilke was an avid and talented golfer and made more money betting against his opponents on the golf course, than he ever did acting.

Pernell Roberts was a trained stage actor, when he took on the role of Adam Cartwright on the long running t.v. series, Bonanza. He had appeared as a villain in Glenn Ford's The Sheepman and in Randolph Scott's, Ride Lonesome. According to David Dortort, the producer of Bonanza, Roberts was never satisfied with his role on the show. He felt the producers never allowed his character to grow on the show. He left Bonanza after 6 years and became a regular on the guest star circuit on many of the t.v. series popular at that time. In 1979, he took on the role of .Dr McIntire on the hit series, Trapper John .M.D., which ran through 1986. In later years, he said that he wished that he had've stayed on Bonanza, but he never returned, even though the part was left open for him. Roberts was the last surviving member of the original Cartwright family.

I was trying to think where I'd seen George E. Stone before. He played Edward G. Robinson's right hand man in Little Caesar (one of my favorite gangster movies). He was also The Runt in the Boston Blackie movies (except for the first one) with Chester Morris.
