Dick Elliott was another of those great old character actors that played in so many of the movies and TV shows from the golden age of Hollywood. He, like Percy Helton, was always an added treat to any film he appeared in.

Howdy Pards!!

Richard"Dick"Elliott was a short, fat, blustery actor, who appeared in over 200 films during his over 30 year career. I've seen him in many westerns and other films and he always played a pompous little character, such as City Councilman, Town Council or as Mayor Pike of Mayberry on the ole Andy Griffith show, which although it was some of his last film work, I believe it is the role he will best remembered for.

Phil Brown appeared in the classic, The Killers back in the early 40's. He was "blacklisted" in Hollywood during the McCarthy hearings on "Unamerican Activities" and was forced to move to England between 1953-1993. He will probably be best remembered as Luke Skywalker's Uncle Owen Lars in Star Wars IV.

Cloris Leachman made her film debut in 1947, but it was the 1955 film, Kiss Me, Deadly that first garnered her attention. She won her Best Supporting Actress Award for the film, The Last Picture Show and SO FAR, her career has stretched over 54 years!!!!! She appeared in 3 of Mel Brooks films, Young .Dr Frankenstein, High Anxiety and History Of The World Part I. She was the prostitute in Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, who helped Paul Newman with his boots. I would still like to know why every time her name"Frau Blucher" was mentioned in Young .Dr Frankenstein, the horses whinnied. Her longest playing role was as the nosey landlady on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. It's hard to believe, that she's 86 years old.

Willie Nelson was one of the first country music singers to have his own show, way back in the 50's. He has written more hit songs for both himself and other singers, than you can shake a stick at. During the 80's, he started making his own films, like Red Headed Stranger, Where The Hell's That Gold, Barbaroso, Honeysuckle Rose. He owed the I.R.S. 23,000,000.00 at one time, according to their figures, because his accountant didnt pay Willie's taxes.( this per Willie). He is so beloved in Texas, that Waylon Jennings once told a Texas crowd ( I understand that you folks in Texas, think that when you die, you git to go to Willie Nelson's house)!!!!!

IMDB says: "In the thirties, forties, and especially
the 1950's, if a director wanted a short, fat actor to play a windy
storekeeper or a raucous conventioneer, he might well cast Dick Elliott." He played Mayor Pike on The Andy Griffith Show.

Phil Brown will be known forever as Luke Skywalker's uncle Owen Lars in Star Wars. He was blacklisted in 1952, although he was not a Communist, and moved to England to resume a stage career there, and later into television.

Cloris Leachman was a contestant in the 1946 Miss America pageant, and started acting in 1948. She's mostly remembered as Mary's pal Phyllis on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, and as Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein.
