Howdy Manco!!

Russ Conway goes back a long way, with appearances in Love Me Tender with Elvis Presley, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane with Joan Crawford and appearances on every t.v. series of the 50's and 60's, like Rawhide, Tales Of Wells Fargo, 12 Oclock High etc. He almost always played a serious dramatic role. He retired in his 60's and lived to the ripe ole age of 95.

Denny Miller first appeared in the film, Tarzan, The Ape Man and was the first blonde Tarzan I'd ever seen. He was cast as scout Duke Shannon on the long running t.v. series, Wagon Train with John McIntire, Robert Fuller, Terry Wilson, Frank McGrath and Michael Burns between the years 1961-1964 and that is the role he will always be remembered for.

Here's another great reason to keep the forum going. Thank you Manco for the daily entries and always enjoyable to read the comments about the various people you highlight on this thread. When it's time to take a break, take a break. You could always do a "catch-up" thread if you need a vacation cruise around the world or Monument Valley or whatever lights your campfire. Bullfrog Bill

Russ Conway was another one of them good supporting actors that Jim and I had the pleasure to know personally. After his career waned he went into real estate and did well there too. Not many know that his older brother was actor Donald Woods who also had a good career in the movies. Back in the summer stock days of the 1930's before they came west to Hollywood, two of our friends (Russ Conway & Walter Reed) worked together in a stage play of Night of January 13. Years later I directed this play and played the role Walter had, and Jim played the prosecuting attorney that Russ played.

Howdy Tom!!

I remember Russ Conway from the guest appearances he did on many of the t.v. series during his career. As you said Tom, he was an excellent dramatic character actor and always made the star look better for his being involved. He was always easily recognizable from his short cropped premature white hair. Hollywood stilll hasn't learned that actors, like fine wines, get better with age. It's a shame that he retired from acting due to his age. Think of all the many wonderful roles, we as fans missed because of some casting director's misguided ideas about age.

I enjoy these posts too, and as Bull says it is another reason to keep the forum alive. Also born on April 25: Renee Zellweger, Ed Harris's somewhat shady leading lady in Appaloosa.
