Howdy! Most of you already know me. I've been hanging around since the early days on the Amazon Forum. I was lucky enough to get an invite from Sandy and Davy to join the first foray into forumhood and now they cant get rid of me. I grew up with horses. My Dad is a great lover of horses and westerns. We would go to the nearby drive-in movie theater every time a western or Disney movie was playing. We watched all the western TV shows on in the 60's, many reruns of the popular 50's series. My Dad also owned a tractor trailer so I learned to drive a big rig at an early age and pursued that as a career for 35 years. Last year I decided it was time for a change (with the help of my employer of 11 years going out of business!) and began my pursuit of a nursing license. Its been a long 13 months but tommorrow is my last day of school! YAY! ...oh, yeah, and I'm the biggest John Wayne fan left in this town (to paraphrase a song by Big and Rich) so no badmouthing the DUKE! Steve

I've been a fan of western films all my life. Luckily I grew up in the '50s and was able to see almost all of the TV westerns and at the theaters and Drive-Ins many of the westerns. In the '60s I became interested in the Spaghetti westerns and started collecting LPs, later CDs, videos then DVD, posters, lobby cards, stills, books and anything else I could find on the subject. I was co-editor and then editor of a fanzine called "Westerns... All'Italiana" since 1982. I was voted into the Spaghetti Western Hall of Fame at the Spaghetti Western Data Base this year. I retired early last year after 30 years working as a salesman and later Territory Mgr. for Hubbell Wiring Devices. I keep busy researching westerns, and doing a daily blog. Sandy roped me into being a staff member responsible for the Spaghetti Western section.

I started watching westerns when I was between 4-5 years old in 1950 on an ole 21 inch b/w Motorola console t.v. The first westerns I remember watching were the Bob Steele films, which were filmed in the 1940's. I grew up watching Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, The Cisco Kid, Lash LaRue, Hopalong Cassidy, The Durango Kid, Tim McCoy, Buck Jones, Kit Carson, starring Bill Williams, Wild Bill Hickok, starring Guy Madison and The Lone Ranger. Then in 1955-1957, the first adult westerns came along, Gunsmoke, Wyatt Earp, Have Gun Will Travel, Wagon Train, Laramie, Trackdown, Whistling Smith, Tombstone Territory, Colt .45, Restless Gun, The Rifleman, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Cheyenne, Cimarron City, The Rebel, The Texan, The Zane Grey Theater, Death Valley Days and I became hooked on westerns forever. I've been fortunate to see almost all of the great western stars of the 50's and 60's, when they were getting started in film. I was employed by an Airline for 30 years and am now retired. I love all things western and am a western trivia fanatic. I love single action Colts and steel lined fast draw rigs. BTW, if you don't know why the Cartwrights on the Bonanza series didn't have cartridge loops on their gunbelts, you're way too young for this group!!!!!!!

Tom-tomgoldrup

Well, I reckon I'm just one of them pards that
love westerns, especially the older ones. I am an actor, author, love
traveling to remote corners of the world, have a great family, love
animals and the great outdoors, and guess that's about it except I feel
fortunate to live in a cabin nestled away in the California hills near
the beach and the redwoods. Guess that is all I need to say on that
subject.
Now, I'll see if this works. You know me, low on computer skills. Tom G.
